Spring in VT | Essex Resort Wedding | Bart + Kaycee

My first wedding of this season took me to the always perfect Essex Resort for Bart and Kaycee’s spring wedding. With Kaycee hailing from Texas and Bart’s family coming from New Hampshire, the couple hoped that friends and family would make the trip to Vermont (sort of in the middle). It proved to be a convergence of southern charm and New England gusto.

Kaycee prepped in the bridal suite at The Essex before heading to the Trinity Episcopal Church in Shelburne to finish getting ready. The suite was buzzing with activity when I arrived. Once the girls left for the church, Bart and the guys took over the suite to get ready. Some of their details included their green felt flower lapel pins in lieu of boutonnieres and the propellor cufflinks that was Kaycee’s gift to Bart.

The Trinity Episcopal Church is a quaint stone building. The rectory behind it had plenty of room for Kaycee to get dressed. The painted walls and ceiling and the detail in the church’s woodwork is just stunning.

I love to see a couple laugh during the ceremony, especially in a church. I feel like it shows presence and the moment is not lost on them.

After the family portraits at the church, the wedding party and I hopped up the road for some group shots. The couple looked fabulous. I loved Kaycee’s long dramatic veil. Her flowers were from Crimson Poppy. With minutes to spare, we managed to squeeze in a few more couple portraits back at The Essex before the reception began. The Essex has a great giant checkerboard on their front lawn that appropriately referenced a game from when they were first dating. Apparently they can be competitive!

The ballroom was beautifully decorated with a palette of navy and green. Cider doughnuts from Quality Bake Shop waited in boxes for the guests. The groom’s awesome airplane cake was provided by Irene’s Cakes by Design, and the wedding cake was made at The Essex. Post dinner, music from Top Hat Entertainment kickstarted the evening with parent dances and a moving generations dance before opening up the dance floor.

    Congratulations to the happy couple!
