Quintessential Vermont | Fall Equinox Wedding | Brian + Mary

Brian & Mary’s wedding weekend in Manchester Vermont got off to a fabulous start with their rehearsal at the Reluctant Panther and the wedding day at the Equinox was just as perfect. I had been looking forward to this since their engagement session last summer. The sun was out, it was warm and it was that perfect time of year where the colors of summer are still lingering but are mixed with the early colors of fall. I couldn’t believe how pretty the day was.

I started my day with Mary while she readied in the awesome bridal suite at the Equinox Resort. Now I’m probably a modern type when it comes to my personal style, but there’s just something about lace that I love. The detail on Mary’s veil to match the lace of her dress was a beautiful touch. The champagne roses were so sweet. Mary and her girls were all so calm. It was a very peaceful bridal suite.

I love to see the parents’ joy on the big day. You can see it in Brian’s Mom as she happily pins his corsage and in Mary’s parents as they quietly look on.

The ceremony details had a classic charm. I love the bride’s procession at the historic 1811 House. Surrounded by sun drenched color and hints of autumn, the couple was married under the rustic arbor.

I used the architecture of the old church across from the Equinox as a backdrop for some of the wedding party photos. It was a good starting point for photos of just Brian and Mary. The hotel’s front veranda and a neighboring porch were also great spots.

Back at the cocktail hour guests were enjoying themselves. The same classic beauty carried into The Colonnade Ballroom. The couple was excited during their entrance. I loved the way Brian looked at Mary during their first dance. The speeches were all very loving and left the crowd a little teary eyed.

When it came time, this crowd rocked the dance floor. Many of the guests hailed from St. Michael’s College. This wasn’t the first St. Mike’s wedding I’ve photographed. Kenny and Caitlin, below, were one of my first for this crowd. It’s amazing how all of their friendships have endured.

I just couldn’t keep up with Brian’s Mom, she was brimming with energy. She enthusiastically got her friends to join in a dance line. Mary’s Dad was also a pretty great dancer so I enjoyed watching him sweep her Mom around the dance floor. As the night went on the energy kept building. This crowd was so crazy there was even a dance-off just before I ended my night.

    Congratulations to Brian & Mary!
