Brooklyn Theme | Old Lantern Wedding | Jeremy + Sarah

My last wedding of the season last year was in late October and arrived just before the peak foliage lost its luster. The day started kind of misty which gave the fall colors an extra pop. I arrived at The Old Lantern in Charlotte VT to start the day with Jeremy and Sarah as they prepped for the big day.

Inside the Lantern’s hall the tables were ready giving me and my second shooter Paul time to capture all of the details. It’s always great to have time in the schedule for these shots before the crush of guests arrives. The couple created a Brooklyn theme complete with Metro table cards, a park bench “guest book”, and museum themed photo booth. It all came together perfectly.

Sarah got ready and dressed at the Inn. It was a flurry of hair and makeup when I arrived. Ruby accents were part of Sarah’s details, including red Chuck Taylors. Nothing says fall in Vermont more than a red, orange, and yellow color palette.

While I was photographing the ladies, Paul captured Jeremy and the groomsmen getting ready back at the Lantern hall. Fall colored Chucks for all!

Since it was still drizzly, the couple’s first look was staged on the Lantern’s porch. Not such a bad back up rain spot. The rain was starting to subside as we started the couple portraits at a nearby covered bridge. We were able to get out into the open once the rain stopped and take advantage of some local spots. The Old Brick Store in Charlotte gave us a cute little nook for a few too. Everywhere we turned was vibrant color so it wasn’t hard to fulfill Sarah’s wish of capturing the Vermont fall. Lastly, we took a few more shots back at the Lantern while waiting for the ceremony to begin.

The ceremony was joyful and filled with laughter. Sometimes I pause to just to listen and laugh along.

After the ceremony I spent time capturing the wedding party and family portraits. I loved the color in this one. Even though we didn’t need the umbrellas anymore I just had to use them as props.

The reception kicked off with a line up of toasts starting with the bride’s father presenting a slideshow. The crowd eased into the evening with mingling, dancing, and cake. I love how happy the couple looked during their first dance. Guests immensely enjoyed the museum themed photo booth with gilded picture frames paired with a red backdrop. The rest of the night was just fun…just as it should be. Congratulations to Jeremy and Sarah! Thanks for being the perfect end to my 2014 season.
