School Architecture | Neagley & Chase Construction
Many of us have our minds on school as the year draws to a close so I wanted to share some from several recently completed shoots. Once a company realizes the value of professional photography, I’m often asked to return to some of their old projects so they can highlight past work. Such was the case with several school projects completed by Neagley & Chase construction. They wanted to make sure they were highlighting their education projects which make up a decent chunk of their portfolio. The challenge with that kind of backtracking is that the clients have long since moved in and both schedules and clutter can be logistical hurdles.
I completed four shoots, each with targeted shot lists of 3-4 spaces. It’s tricky to work around school schedules to avoid any student confidentiality issues. We managed to schedule for inservice days to avoid that problem.
Vergennes Union High School
A renovated cafeteria, gymnasium and performing arts space were features of this project.
Lincoln Community School
Most of the improvements for this renovation including the roof, windows and doors, and the building’s thermal envelope so we focused on exterior shots. The weather fortuitously cooperated for this one.
Edmunds Elementary & Middle School
A renovation that was sensitive to the historic building included ADA accessibility improvements including entrances and a new elevator. While a stairwell might not seem sexy, I actually really enjoyed creating these M.C. Escher-like images. 5,500 square feet of classroom and common space was also renovated so we picked a classroom with stunning arched windows to feature those improvements.
Heartworks Preschool
A 3500 square foot addition added bright classroom space to this Williston preschool and daycare. I photographed the infant spaces with an effort to highlight the interior windows that offer views into each of the rooms.
Berling Elementary
A renovation was completed to address safety and efficiency upgrades. I photographed the entrance foyer with custom tile work, the gymnasium which received a new floor and lighting and a couple of other spaces with lighting upgrades.
