Early Spring Wedding | Sugarbush Resort | David + Sarah

The forecast called for rain. Spring was still struggling to kickstart. I had my usual pre-wedding season jitters. But sometimes you wake up on the day of a wedding and the trees have sprouted under an azure blue sky and the forecast has cleared. It turned out to be a wonderful day for the first wedding of my season.

I’m sure that Dave and Sarah were relieved too, despite how beautiful Sugarbush Resort is rain or shine. I first visited the Gatehouse ballroom to check in on some of the details. Corks ready for signing served as the guest book and I loved the mapped history of their relationship! A Schoolhouse Garden prepared the beautiful florals. I love a mix of closed and open buds.

In the bridal suite I photographed Sarah’s dress (pockets = love) and details. Dave was readying just a few rooms below so I was able to stop in a capture some of his details as well. Sarah outdid herself with gifts for Dave. Custom cufflinks with maps of their honeymoon locations and an engraved bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label. I believe a heartfelt thank-you was sent right away from Dave.

It was finally time for the wedding to begin and thanks to the weather, the ceremony was able to be held outside in the courtyard. Several flights of steps make for a very grand entrance.

During the wedding party photos, the groomsmen were in a very creative mood. When wedding party members are up for some fun it just makes my day.

After a quiet, snuggly couple session it was on to the reception. Sarah was pretty fabulous at taking turns in her gown. It turns out she is an experienced ballroom dancer. The cake and sumptuous-looking cake table came from Eli’s Cheesecake Company where Sarah works in Chicago. The rest of the evening consisted of joy, dancing, fun and love.
