Like many commercial architecture projects, they occur while a company continues operation. It’s not like you can just shut down business for six months to a year! The same went for capturing images of the Biotek Instruments facility in Winooski Vermont. The shoot had to be scheduled for a weekend while closed for business.
As part of construction, a 21,000 square foot addition was added onto an existing 30,000 square foot space which was also renovated. There were a variety of spaces to capture including office space, conference and education rooms, the manufacturing assembly area and the swanky modern employee lunch room. The last was probably my favorite space with details like the custom live-edge wood table and the cloud of pendant lights much like the ones installed in the Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop renovation.
I also captured a few exterior shots as the building’s 4″ envelope and triple glazed windows were some of the efficiency highlights.
