My second wedding of the season also took me to the Old Lantern Inn & Barn for a late spring celebration. It felt and looked much more like summer this time around! I also traveled around the area more to visit both the groom and the bride while they got ready in their respective spots, to capture their ceremony at the First Unitarian Universalist Society church, and to hit some lovely spots with just the couple before ending up at the Old Lantern Inn & Barn for their reception.
During one of our conversations leading up to the wedding, Amber mentioned being “over” wedding planning. I think every couple hits that point…when you’re so close and yet the day is just not here yet. Sometimes those final details can seem so tedious. But everything I saw during Amber and Jeff’s day proved that all that hard work was worth it. Each piece of the day fell into place as it should, the personal touches they added made the day so memorable, and they seemed to genuinely have fun. I loved the long scroll containing the personal vows Jeff read during the ceremony and their duet vows were a surprising and sweet change from the normal vows this veteran wedding photographer usually sees. With family and the wedding party we took advantage of the beautiful grounds surround the First Unitarian Universalist Society church near Church Street in Burlington. And while I love the shots we planned with the couple after at the Charlotte public beach and covered bridge some of my favorites happened right at the church.
The reception that followed was fun and full of sincerity. Jeff and Amber truly danced as if no one was watching during their First Dance as a married couple. A unique and special treat for their guests was a caricaturist who provided portraits for anyone who wanted to sit for one. He was amazing! The flowers by Clayton Floral and Landscaping were seasonally beautiful and Eric from Music Express provided ample entertainment.
At every wedding I always look for those last few moments with the couple enjoying their night. With Amber and Jeff I was lucky enough to take them outside for a few parting shots on Barber Hill AND to catch them together enjoying a dance as if the crowd wasn’t there. That to me is always the sign of a successful wedding day! Congratulations Amber and Jeff!
